The Power of Vision

There are many things I want to accomplish in life, but I don’t think all of them are realistic enough for me to take actions and make them happen. However, there are few that are not just simply “dreams”. Here are the lists f my visions that I need to work hard to accomplish them.

1- Personal goal: to travel around as many countries as possible. I love to travel to different places. I am excited to learn about different cultures in countries that I have visited. In order to make this possible, I need to have enough savings for my traveling expenses, food, hotels, etc. So this personal goal actually goes hand in hand with my business goal. I also need to make a plan for this traveling trip. There will be a lot of planning to do, such as researching on the location, cities, hotel, currency, lifestyle, etc.

2- Business goal: finding a stable and high salary job. I vision myself being the owner of a Bakery/Coffee shop. I want to do my own business relating to the culinary area. To accomplish this, I am taking classes relating to different areas of expertise of being a successful operator in the future. But I think a lot of the success also depends on myself, because certain skills I can’t learn from classrooms. So during my free time, I do baking such as brownies, cheescakes, lemon cakes, now on to baking cookies. In the near future, I want to take culinary arts class to further explore this career and create my own cake related products.

3- Volunteer goal: I want to join volunteer groups and travel to those underdeveloped countries and assist the poor. This has been a long dream goal I used to envision when I was a kid. I want to make a change for a good cause, whether physically or mentally affecting the lives of those who were born to a less wealthy country. I am considering on joining social workforce, maybe I can do this after becoming a successful entrepreneur.

I love to travel too! I think that's a really great goal! Experiencing different parts of world will be really fun. We can also explore our views, and learn from other cultures. It will be an unforgettable experience.

I hope to be financial stable too. If we can be financial stable and have enough money, then we can afford the expense that we have for travel.

You have break down your goal into specific category. I like your personal goal which is to travel around as many countries as possible. I think this is many people's goal. I think that this goal is not really hard for you to accomplish. If you made enough money and have time, you can travel anywhere you want.
I think most people would like to have a stable and high salary job. But having a job that can make money and also is your interest is very hard. Since you like to do baking and making cakes, I think that you should go toward your goal of opening your own bakery shop. Maybe in the future, I would be your bakery's customer too.
I think your goal to be a volunteer is very meaningful. I mean when people talks about their goal and vision, most people will think about goals that will benefit or enhance themselves. But to you, you consider helping others in the undeveloped countries as one of your goal. I really like your volunteer goal and hope that you can actually accomplish it. If there is chance in the future, I hope that we can actually join the volunteer groups together to assist the poor in the undeveloped countries.

You seem like an altruistic leader. Your description of the passion you have to travel and see the world, opening a bakery/coffee shop, and helping the poor is very enlightening. You seem to see the world in a beautiful light and I think its great.
I think you can definitly do the things that you say. I myself can invision you being an owner of a shop and helping others because you do that now with your friends too. Your one of the nicest people I know =D Work hard. We, your friends, will do our best to help you whenever you need us. Im sure your vision can become a reality.

I love baking too, but every time I baked my friends told me I need to look for new hobbie. Its great that you vision yourself doing what you like to do. And your other visions seem great too, especially volunteering, people don't necessary volunteer because they like to do it, most are doing it for the look on their resume. I admire your vision, it takes a big heart for someone who would sacrifice their time and energy for good causes. You will definitely make your visions come true, with that generous heart and great passion for food.

Your desire to travel, as well as your approach to thinking about it, is quite similar to mine. No better way to learn than to experience, and experiencing other cultures in their native land is one of the best reasons to travel. Of course, traveling requires time, money, and the knowledge necessary to maximize your traveling experience. This part of your vision seems to be well thought out.

As for your goal of volunteering, I think that is the most promising part of your vision. There is a certain satisfaction that one can get from knowing that they are making a positive difference in the world. This feeling does not come from making a decent salary or living a comfortable lifestyle. No matter how our professional goals turn out, we should definitely find a way to give time to volunteer. Though you stated that you want to help those who were born in a less wealthy country, even if you face barriers to going abroad to volunteer (perhaps there is political upheaval, war, or maybe the cost of flying and getting the time off of work is not feasible at the time etc..) there is always the chance to volunteer domestically. Many people have gone to New Orleans to help rebuild the community one house at a time. Your goal to do volunteer work has reminded me that it should also be a goal of mine.

OMG! Baked goodies are my absolute favorite things in the world!! I like to bake cheesecake, cookies, cakes, muffins, etc from time to time. I try to do it on the weekends when I have time but school exams and projects tend to get in the way. If you read my blog, you'll see that it was my goal once to open a cafe but for some reason, I find it a hassle to bake sometimes, especially cleaning and washing the dishes and utensils. Instead I want to have my own dance studio now except I don't know how to dance. I think it's really awesome that someone shares the same vision as me. Although I am majoring in accounting, my ultimate goal in life is not to be just an accountant but to have my own dance studio that I can manage the operations and finance areas of it as well. What else do you bake? Your pictures are making me drool right now.

well, I like your cafe vision. I believe you are on the right track, taking cooking lessons and practicing are the key to success. If I am lucky enough, I hope to be your "white mouse" though. :)
Good luck.

All your visions seem interesting and accomplishable; however, I would suggest that you should travel the world while you’re young. Life is just too short. There is a whole world out there unknown to us and I believe it would be a great experience for you to discover it country by country. Having the opportunity to learn about different cultures and values is a plus. There are great travel packages during the off-season when demand is fairly low for many foreign countries. We all know traveling can get pretty pricey and that is why we are in college working hard towards securing that job with the huge salary. Follow your dreams!

I really like your goal of owning a bakery/coffee shop! Since you like baking so much you should definitely follow your dreams. Getting there will take some time but it's a long term goal that is well worth it at the end. I too love to travel!!!!! I mean who doesn't?! Seeing and experience new and things is always exciting. The world is full of never ending possibilities and sights to see. And seeing as much as I can is definitely on my list!

Its so cool to see that I'm not the only one in Baruch with culinary ambitions! It may be all the reality cooking shows on tv but for a couple of years now I've been absolutely obsessed with one day taking culinary arts classes and hopefully someday opening a restaurant of my own. Maybe one day we'll both open up our eateries. Best of luck! ...Unless you end up being the competition up the block.
